I just watched Fox News Sunday. I figured that with Chris Wallace taking the day off, perhaps the program would be tolerable. I may as well have watched CNN or MSNBC.
The guest host was Mike Emanuel. One of the segments dealt with Coronavirus. Featured was Harvard Global Health Institute director Dr. Ashish Jha. I was unfamiliar with Jha, but I figured that his mission would be to Make America Scared Again. I wasn’t disappointed.

Dr. Ashish Jha continually ups the number of tests recommended per week to battle the coronavirus pandemic. In early April, Jha said the number of tests to reopen America safely should be around 500,000 coronavirus tests conducted nationwide per day. In an article that he wrote in early April, Jha noted that “about 500,000 people daily—is well within our capacity, and as the disease burden comes down, so will the number of tests we need to perform.” A White House official said shortly afterwards that the United States was currently conducting fairly close to 500,000 tests per day.

After the information about the 500,000 tests per day was released, Jha “clarified”, and began increasing his numbers. Just ten days later, in a piece that Jha co-authored, he changed the number from about 500,000 tests per day to at least 500,000 tests per day and probably more. Jha and public health officials said that the number of tests needed every day is, at a minimum, 500,000, though we likely need many more.”
On May 4th, Jha again upped the number of tests needed. In an op-ed for NBC News, his number went up to four million tests per week. That averages to more than 570,000 tests per day. “Increasing our testing capacity to at least nearly four million tests a week is difficult but possible,” Jha wrote.
SOME EARLY TESTS WERE FAULTY
Next, May 13, according to the Wall Street Journal, Jha increased the number of tests he claimed that the United States needed to conduct was six million per week. That’s over 857,000 per day.
The Wall Street Journal‘s Thomas Burton wrote on May 13:
Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, estimated that the nation needs to perform more than six million tests every week if it is to cast a wide enough net to detect the majority of people with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new virus.
That means Jha, in just over a month from that initial April 8 estimate of 500,000 tests per day necessity, he increased it to over 857,000 tests per day–which is what six million per week translates to.
But Jha doesn’t quit. On May 2, according to National Public Radio (NPR), Jha again increased his number, this time seven million tests per week. This is the number of tests Jha was pushing as necessary to safely reopen the country and stay open. President Donald Trump’s testing czar Admiral Brett Giroir noted that three million tests were being conducted per week at that time.
Jha attacked that number as not enough.
“It is not nearly enough, certainly not enough to open up safely and remain open,” Jha said. Remember, Jha’s original number was 3.5 million per week.
The story from NPR’s Joel Rose then paraphrased Jha fully doubling his initial testing estimates. “At a minimum, Jha says the U.S. needs to be testing twice as many people — 7 million per week,” NPR’s Rose wrote.
Seven million tests per week means a million tests per day, which is of course more than double what Jha originally said back on April 8.
The U.S. testing average is presently 636,683 daily.
This is the game that the Bureaucrats in Government are playing. They set arbitrary rules designed to hogtie Americans, to hogtie The President and to hogtie Our Nation. The left DOES NOT CARE about coronavirus except for it’s use as a weapon against President Trump. They are not bothered by the fact that Americans get sick and die. They are not bothered that, right now, “the cure is worse than the illness”. Drug overdose deaths have increased dramatically. Child and spousal abuse is on the rise. Mental illness is now inflicting millions as they try to cope with being locked down, out of work, out of money and lonliness, among other issues. Children are being mentally and emotionally damaged by living in constant fear of dying from Covid-19. Their entire life has been upended. They miss school, their friends, their daily routine. Add to that the ruination of the world’s economies, including our own greatest economy in the history of the world. To the left, this is a price worth paying if only they can oust Trump and seize power.
How awful these people are. They need to be completely defeated in November. If they are not, look for The United States of CHAZ.

To me, the graph listing The EU as one “country” skews the numbers. Looking at the individual countries is a more accurate comparison. This is because each country had it’s own response to Covid. Some EU countries had an explosive number of cases per-capita. Some were much lower. In reality, due to populations that are MUCH SMALLER than the US population, those countries with declining numbers are, in effect, “running out” of victims to infect. Add to that the fact that Covid infected Illegal Aliens are flooding our Southern Border States, and additional illegals are coming through the Northern Border. They are coming for the “FREE” superior health care. Finally, there was a story in the News yesterday that the Taliban is calling for Jihadis to deliberately become infected with coronavirus and ‘carry it to the enemy’ “. It seems very suspicious that we are seeing such a dramatic spike in the number of U.S. coronavirus cases.
