The covid extremists are getting more and more wacky.
Yes, there is need for some common-sense precautions. Especially concerning those at higher risk. But that’s been true ever since doctors began to explore and understand modern medicine. We wash our hands, we don’t get crap on our food, we keep varmints away from our water supply. But we’ve never quarantined healthy people.
Some of us have old guy/gal conditions that require a heightened sense of caution.
However… there comes a point where precautions become ridiculous. This is especially true when politics come into play.
The Democrats have been on a gig lately where they constantly mention “science”, “the science community”, “scientific proof”, etc. It’s not that they really respect science. They just pretend to because they can use “science” as a mallet to hammer their opponents.
In an attempt to signal their virtue to others, they go to some wild extremes. Take for instance the upcoming Biden/Harris debate.
Until now, the “6 foot rule” has been sufficient. It’s been driven into our heads that 6 feet of separation guaranteed safety from covid laced, airborn, aeresolized spittle. 5’11″… dead. 6’0″… safe. Apparently, at 5’11”, gravity finally wins out and the spit drops like a 2-pound-haddock-fishing-lead-weight in Icy Straits, Alaska.
Now, because the Trump Administration has been targeted in a coronavirus attack, Harris’s handlers want enhanced protection. (I wonder how much protection Harris insisted on when consorting with Willie Brown?)
As a result, Pence will be seated 13 feet from Harris. AND, there will be a plexiglass barrier between them. The same precautions will apply to the moderator. I guess walls DO work.
And so, this whole thing illustrates the left’s unending quest for more and more stringent and restrictive rules. By the time we get to the Trump/Biden third debate, the requirement for the debate stage will be a football field. The moderator at the 50 yard line. Trump and Biden at the goal posts. In a tank of bleach water. Breathing filtered, UV treated air.
This debate WILL be a good chance to get a feel for Pence. Will he be too mild mannered? Or will he tell it like it is? It’s always tricky when a male Republican debates a female Democrat. The dems like to champion the notion that men and women are equal. But they also are not averse to pulling out the Female Card. “He was mean to me because I’m a poor weak woman.” Hillary and the media tried it, expect the same if Pence smashes Harris’ arguments.
As for Harris, she seems pretty shallow. A lousy impromptu speaker. Stupid meaningless giggling. Afraid to face the press and the tough questions. This time, she won’t have the luxury to run and hide.
The big unknown is if/how much the moderator will aid Harris and attack Pence. We saw that behavior from Chris Wallace. In fact, the leftist moderators have been assisting the Democrat candidates for years.
The moderator for Biden/Harris is Susan Page, Washington Bureau Chief for USA Today.
She is the founder of a USA Today program, an award-winning video newsmaker series. She appears often as a guest on cable news as an analyst and often guest-hosted The Diane Rehm Show, syndicated on National Public Radio.
I guarantee I’ll watch the debate from the beginning. There’s no guarantee I’ll stick it out to the end.
