During her weekly press conference, Nancy Pelosi spent most of the time bad-mouthing President Trump, including speculation that the House of Representatives would eventually decide the 2020 presidential election. In Pelosi’s hatred for the duly elected President of the United States, she taunted Trump that she and her fellow democrats would install Joe Biden in the White House. Fortunately for the rest of us, Pelosi has no idea how a House vote works in deciding a presidential election and Trump would 100% be named the winner.
Pelosi was asked what would happen if there was no clear-cut winner in November’s presidential election and it had to be decided by the House. She gave a six-minute rambling answer in which she accused the President of sabotaging the election but ended with this threat:
“There ain’t no light at the end of the tunnel for you in the House of Representatives,” said Pelosi to Trump in absentia.
What Pelosi is saying, and it’s not always clear, is that should the House of Representatives will be tasked with deciding a winner in the 2020 election and that Trump would lose. Like all things, she is wrong.
In the event that the House has to vote on a winner for the election, there’s one rule that guarantees Trump wins. It’s not a straight up vote of the entire House, which the democrats control, but rather a one vote per state delegation. What that means is, the 53 Representatives of California get one vote and the 1 Representative from Alaska gets 1 vote. A simple majority decides the contest.
Currently the Republicans control 26 state delegations while the democrats control 22. Pennsylvania and Michigan are split evenly. What that means is if the race is decided by the House Trump will get 26 votes and Biden will get 22 with PA and MI being cancelled out. That also means, Trump wins again.
Pelosi acknowledged the fact that Republicans control more state delegations than democrats but dismissed it because she thinks all they have to do is flip one state in November to be able to give Biden the win.
“We have all sorts of opportunities to take down that one vote,” Pelosi said.
It’s a proven fact that Botox poising attacks math skills because even in Pelosi’s fantasy, that would still only be 23 votes for Biden while Trump would have 25, giving him the victory.
Even worse for Pelosi, she also mentioned that this vote would take place at the time the Electoral College is supposed to cast their votes. Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about that:
Each state’s electors meet in their respective state capital on the first Monday after the second Wednesday of December to cast their votes.
Even if the democrats flipped every single state delegation in November, the new Congress wouldn’t be seated until the first week of January in 2021. Meanwhile, the old Congress of 26 Republican state delegations would have voted President Trump into the White House for a second term in December 2020.
Democrats have guaranteed that the November election will be an epic clusterf*ck and there’s a good chance it may be decided by the House. I’m sure this is by design from the democrats but their plan, like all their plans, is just as big of shit show. All this means is 4 more years of Trump.
