(Vietnam is a communist country having one-party rule, the Communist Party of Vietnam, a Marxist-Leninist government. Vietnam is among several remaining “communist” countries today, together with China, Laos, Cuba and North Korea. The list can be disputed.
Some countries that are communist are considered by some to be Socialist. The distinction sometimes blurs, for instance, Venezuela. And North Korea… Communist? Socialist? Totalitarian?
Perhaps those terms are no longer as relevant as they once were. And the phrase “Free Country” seems oftentimes meaningless, as we’ve seen demonstrated in the past couple of years.
