Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” agenda is in deep trouble because democrats either think it’s too much or not enough. The great unifier has reportedly tried to smooth things over by telling democrats that they have to pass the massive spending bill or there will be another January 6th-style insurrection. If that doesn’t work, maybe he’ll tell them that a killer meteor is head for earth and the only way to divert it is to throw $3.5 trillion at it.
House democrats are sitting on a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that passed the Senate but won’t vote on it until they pass Biden’s $3.5 trillion socialism package. They however won’t pass the $3.5 trillion spending bill until they get commitments form the Senate that it will pass. Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema have publicly come out against the $3.5 trillion bill so Nancy Pelosi and the House democrats are sitting around with their thumbs up their asses.
After Biden’s disastrous first 8 months in office, he desperately needs a win so he went to the Capitol on Friday to twist some democratic arms to get at least one of these bills passed.
As The AP reports, Biden’s private negotiations are somehow worse than his public statements:
In his private talks with legislators, Biden has suggested a Democratic defeat on the current bills would be a gift to Republicans, empowering a party that he has judged a threat to democracy itself. Defeat, he has warned, would embolden the same forces who tacitly blessed the origins of the Jan. 6th insurrection and are now balking at helping to lift the national debt ceiling to avoid a government default.
Biden should have read Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal because that’s some f*cking terrible negotiating right there.
He’s telling adults (albeit liberal ones) that they have to vote for these bills or Republicans will stage an insurrection and democracy will be destroyed. I’m surprised he didn’t add that if the bills fail it will make baby Jesus cry.
Because this is Joe Biden, of course it gets dumber. The reason why both bills are stalled is because of Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema and yet, as The Hill reports, he didn’t meet with the Senators:
President Biden arrived on Capitol Hill shortly before 4 p.m. in a bid to unify congressional Democrats who are fractured over how to move forward on his $4 trillion economic agenda.
The president walked into a closed-door meeting with House Democrats, accompanied by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and other House leaders.
In an attempt to sway Manchin and Sinema, Biden met with Pelosi and Hoyer, who are already on board. I’m serious, he really should read The Art of the Deal.
Even funnier is this thing from The NY Times:
With Democrats pleading for a deal on a hard-fought social safety net bill, one of the key holdouts, Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, left Washington on Friday. The reason, her spokesman said, was a medical appointment for a foot injury.
She new Biden was coming to the Capitol and split for Arizona because even she thinks #FuckJoeBiden
The democrats have certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of the mild protests of January 6 they have dubbed a deadly insurrection. In the months since it happened, every single democrat and liberal media narrative has been thoroughly debunked, but Joe Biden is still flogging the dead horse to help pass his doomed $3.5 trillion agenda.
