Now that we got Ralph Northam, Justin Trudeau, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, and Joy Behar to stop wearing blackface, Halloween should be inoffensive and safe to celebrate, right? Apparently not. You see, the holiday isn’t inclusive enough and discriminates against black people so it has to be cancelled. Sorry our the inconvenience.
Writer Jesse Signal, who I assume leans to the left since he used to write for NY Magazine, unexpectedly brought this to our attention:

“As some of you know, for many years…on the school day closest to Halloween, fifth graders have and paraded through the school. It is an event many students enjoy. However, we have several school community members who do not celebrate Halloween, or are upset by the costumes, or for whom purchasing a costume is a hardship. As a school that believes deeply in making sure everyone is welcome and included, we will no longer be inviting Halloween costumes into school,” reads the letter.
While this school didn’t come out and say Halloween is cancelled because it’s racist, they alluded to it by saying the holiday is not inclusive enough and that some people can’t afford Halloween costumes. That’s guilty white liberal-speak for “black people.”
This next school however had no problem saying Halloween discriminates against black kids. KTTH reports:
A Seattle elementary school canceled Halloween activities over concerns about student equity and inclusion. Specifically, Seattle Public Schools says Black males do not celebrate and, more generally, students of color feel marginalized by the holiday.
Benjamin Franklin Day Elementary (B.F. Day) in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood typically hosts Halloween festivities each year. They include a “Pumpkin Parade” where students wear costumes if they choose. But the school administration changed its focus to “foundational beliefs around equity for our students and families,” and, consequently, they’re canceling Halloween.
According to a Seattle Public Schools spokesperson, the decision came from the school’s Racial Equity Team after years of discussion.
The spokesperson says other Seattle schools have also canceled Halloween festivities recently. She claims Black students, particularly males, do not celebrate the secular holiday. The decision was meant to protect them from feeling marginalized.
“Historically, the Pumpkin Parade marginalizes students of color who do not celebrate the holiday. Specifically, these students have requested to be isolated on campus while the event took place. In alliance with SPS’s unwavering commitment to students of color, specifically African American males, the staff is committed to supplanting the Pumpkin Parade with more inclusive and educational opportunities during the school day,” said the spokesperson.
What a novel way to promote racial harmony. Cancel Halloween because of the black kids and let the white kids know that’s why they can’t celebrate it. I’m sure there will be nothing but hugs across the campus.
While we’re on the subject, this is white liberals telling black kids that they are too poor and abnormal to participate in a fun event. That seems way more racist than letting kids enjoy themselves once a year.
