You gotta hand it to Joe Biden, he really has a good sense of the issues most important to Americans. Having solved all other problems, the Biden administration fixed racism by renaming 650 geographical locations that contained the word “squaw.” Suddenly gas and groceries are affordable and no one has to live in fear.
I feel I should mention that first paragraph was pure sarcasm. There’s always one person who thinks I’m being serious.
In any case, here’s some f*cked up shit from Fox News:
The Biden administration’s Department of the Interior on Thursday announced the replacement names for nearly 650 geographical features that had names deemed “racist and derogatory.”
The Board on Geographic Names voted on the final names to replace the names of landmarks on federal lands that feature the term “squaw,” the department said in a news release.
The removal of the term, which the department says has “historically been used as an offensive ethnic, racial and sexist slur, particularly for Indigenous women,” is part of an ongoing effort to review and replace derogatory names from federal usage.
“I feel a deep obligation to use my platform to ensure that our public lands and waters are accessible and welcoming. That starts with removing racist and derogatory names that have graced federal locations for far too long,” said Interior Secretary Deb Haaland who is Native American.
Here’s the thing, I always thought “squaw” was just a word for a young Indian girl. I’ve never heard it used in any other way. Where are the examples of squaw being used as a racial or sexist slur? No seriously, I got time. Show me.
Some renamed federal lands included: Squaw Gulch, a valley in Placer County, California, to Mani’pa Gulch; Squaw Lake in Hinsdale County, Colorado, to Grizzly Lake; and Squaw Mountain, a summit in Utah County, Utah, to Kyhv Peak.
I looked at the list of places that were renamed and there was one called “Squaw Tit” in Arizona. I can agree that should be changed but they should have just called it “Squaw Boob.” The rest of the list however is completely dumb.
Also, I’m assuming there is significant signage associated with all of these places. What’s it going to cost us to put up possibly thousands of news signs? I guess the way Biden has been burning through our money a few million dollars seems like chump change, but still.
And there’s still more to come. This was just the places that had “squaw” in the name. Biden has assembled the Derogatory Geographic Names Task Force and they have recommend thousands of name changes. Considering that aggrieved minorities think everything is racist and derogatory, every place in the country will have to be renamed.
That is, unless we can get a Republican back in the White House and restore some sanity to this country.
This is the kind of thing that democrats believe is of great concern to Americans. Does renaming Squaw Mountain secure the border? Does renaming Squaw Lake make our cities safer? Does renaming Squaw Valley bring down inflation?
Hell, the Inflation Reduction Act doesn’t even bring down inflation. That’s what really needs to be renamed. They should call it the Squaw Reduction Act since I’m sure some of its non-inflation reducing funds will go to stupid shit like this.
