Scammers, hackers, and online predators have been working overtime through the pandemic — and unfortunately, they are showing no signs of slowing down.
You may not even have to come in contact with a hacker for them to steal your information.
It’s absolutely incredible you could at some point take a look at your credit score on your phone and realize that someone has been taking money or loans out in your name and not paying them back so it begs the question if you don’t come in contact with these people how do you get your information
Chris Hadnagy is known as The Human Hacker, he works with Fortune 500 companies to test their employees by simulating criminal attacks.
“They’re not even talking to you how they get all your info of your info as part of a breach may be the healthcare organization last year or do you serve the US military with OPM breach went live that data goes over the Internet so they’re finding your data and other breaches then they’re using that to apply for loans and unemployment other services other services online,” Hadnagy said.
Hadnagy said the scams work because there are so many requests right now unemployment offices and so few people that work there that they are just overwhelmed with every single piece of data that comes in and there’s no possible way for them to check it all and verify everything
Another piece of this is people that continue to work from home also become targets for fishing scams and emails things that look like they’re coming from places of work because there’s really no way to double-check or verify them like you normally would at the office
“If you and I are working the same office and I got some weird email from you asking me to click the link I could just peek over the Cuban girl hey man did you send me this email and be like no I didn’t send it and then we just go to the other way but now I’m at home I can’t do that so I get this email and I have to decide in my mind is this real is it night does it look legit does it talk to me this way,” Hadnagy said.
