NORMAN (KOKH) - In a letter from the University of Oklahoma President Joseph Harroz, it was announced on Wednesday that Senior Vice President and Provost Kyle Harper is stepping out of his current role and resuming his position on the faculty.
OU has launched a nationwide search for the next Senior Vice President and Provost for the Norman campus.
Provost Harper has served in his current role since 2014.
Senior Vice Provost Dr. Jill Irvine, Presidential Professor of International and Area Studies, will serve as interim.
Provost Harper’s primary work will be teaching and scholarship.
He will also serve in a senior advisory role to assist the Interim Provost and help in the implementation of the Norman campus strategic plan.
BERT leaders demanded Harper's resignation in February after a professor used a racial slur in class.
