Earlier, we told you how democratic Senator Tim Kaine made an “OK” hand gesture, that liberals say is a symbol for white power, while claiming America invented slavery. Chances are, Kaine will not be fired, reprimanded, or called out in any way. Meanwhile, in San Diego a Hispanic guy was fired from his job when some rando took a picture of him allegedly making the same “OK” hand gesture. Clearly this Hispanic dude is a Republican, because democrats don’t face any problems doing things like this.
NBC 7 San Diego reports that Emmanuel Cafferty was fired from his dream job at San Diego Gas and Electric after a random stranger posted a picture of him on social media.
About two weeks ago there was a Black Lives Matter rally (riot?) in the san Diego area. Cafferty was driving his SDG&E truck and possibly got into an argument with another motorist. That other motorist took a picture of Cafferty, who had his arm hanging out of the window. The random stranger posted the picture on Twitter with a claim that Cafferty was making a white power hand gesture.
To me it looks like his ring finger is joined with the thumb, which would be the “shocker” (two in the pink, one in the stink) and not an “OK.”
Not long after, Cafferty’s supervisor informed him they were aware of the picture and that he would be suspended as they investigate. A couple of days later, Cafferty was fired.
“We hold all SDG&E employees to a high standard and expect them to live up to our values every day. We conducted a good faith and thorough investigation that included gathering relevant information and multiple interviews, and took appropriate action,” said Sand Diego Gas and Electric in a statement.
Cafferty, who is of Mexican descent, says he never ever heard of the “OK” hand gesture being a symbol of white power and maintains that he was simply cracking his knuckles.
“When my supervisor said that I was being accused of doing a white supremacist gesture, that was baffling,” Cafferty said.
Suffice it to say, Cafferty is devastated, especially since he’s clearly not a white supremacist.
“I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to get over this, but to lose your dream job for playing with your fingers, that’s a hard pill to swallow,” said Cafferty.
Somehow this dumb story gets much stupider:
NBC 7 spoke to the man who originally posted the picture on Twitter. He has since deleted his account and said he may have gotten “spun up” about the interaction and misinterpreted it. He says he never intended for Cafferty to lose his job.So there was no real confrontation between this random stranger and Cafferty and it’s entirely possible that wasn’t really a white power “OK” hand gesture. SDPG&E really did a bang-up job of investigating this, didn’t they? I would hope that Cafferty files a wrongful termination lawsuit against the company.
This is a direct result of the hysteria that has gripped this country in the wake of the George Floyd riots. Everyone is so scared of offending Black Lives Matter and appearing racist that Hispanic guys are getting fired for suspected white supremacy. Only liberals don’t think that sounds ridiculous.
