FINALLY!
The entertainment I’ve been looking for is now scheduled. THE TRUMP-BIDEN DEBATES!
First presidential debate: Tuesday, Sept. 29, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN
Second presidential debate: Thursday, Oct. 15, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami, FL
Third presidential debate: Thursday, Oct. 22, Belmont University, Nashville, TN
ALSO: Biden’s yet-to-be-named running mate would participate in an Oct. 7 vice presidential debate.
First televised Presidential Debate, Nixon vs. Kennedy, 1960
The Presidential Debate Commission has announced that President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, the presumptive Democrat nominee*, will face off in Indiana, Tennessee, and Florida.
The announcement came shortly after the University of Michigan, which was supposed to host the second presidential debate, pulled out over concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
Concerns about the Coronavirus pandemic? That sounds like a copout. It’d be easy to control the venue as far as Hunan Fear goes. The moderators, Trump, Biden and any live audience could be screened and “socially distanced”. (I’m really really sick of the stupid covid vocabulary. Like social distancing. It’s really anti-social distancing. I’d rather have political distancing. As in, no democrats within 50 feet of me.)
So is Michigan out because it’s too risky? Too blue? Too out-of-control? Because the University of Michigan is too liberal? Who knows….
Therefore, all three debates will be in states that Trump won in 2016.
YELLOW MAN VS. ORANGE MAN
President Trump was pushing for more debates than the three. And he wanted some to be less structured, more freewheeling. I like that idea, let the candidates engage one on one, back and forth. The moderators often try to be the star of the show. And they take sides, leading some candidates to give “the proper” reply and arguing with other candidates. It is not the place of the moderators to become engaged in the debate. Let the candidates go at it.
As it is, the Biden campaign will stick with the official three debate schedule.
Biden’s campaign manager, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, stated, “Our position is straightforward and clear: Joe Biden will accept the Commission’s debates, on the Commission’s dates, under the Commission’s established format and the Commission’s independent choice of moderators.” OK….
And Dillon made this laughable statement in her letter, “Nothing should prevent the conduct of debates between Joe Biden and Donald Trump on these dates; again, we do not want to provide President Trump with any excuses for not debating.” Yeah, Trump is scared of Joe.
I have to wonder how Biden’s campaign will prep him for the campaign. There will be no teleprompters. Joe forgets EVERYTHING. I’m not sure of all the rules, as far as bringing notes, or having an ear bud, etc.*
‘Basically, a coin toss determines who gets to answer the first question and who will make their closing remarks first. Each candidate will get alternate turns. Once a question is asked, the candidate has 2 minutes to answer the question. After this, the opposing candidate has around 1 minute to respond and rebut her/his arguments. At the moderator’s discretion, the discussing of the question may be extended by 30 seconds per candidate.’ Questions can be asked by the moderators or by an audience member. Other minor details are discussed and agreed on by the respective campaigns, such as seating or podiums, etc.
I’m ready for this. The side of Biden and Trump that the public never sees on MSM will be on full display. I really don’t see how Biden will survive it.
* I wonder at the left’s and the media’s constant use of the phrase “presumptive nominee” in reference to Biden. Trump is never referred to by anyone as the “presumptive nominee”. He’s the only candidate left for Republicans.
Biden is the only candidate left for Democrats. Or is he? Biden’s campaign never lets Joe out. They can’t. Joe is unable to do well in a 2 minute press conference.
The campaign could have decided to not participate in any debates. They have that right. People wouldn’t like it, but the campaign might’ve gotten away with it this time around. All of America is used to everything getting cancelled. So why did they agree to the debates? Is it because Joe is simply the “presumptive nominee“, not the guaranteed nominee? Will Joe suffer a “health crisis” and drop out, leaving the way open to select an already chosen nominee at the Democratic National Convention? The convention is scheduled for August 17-20, 2020, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
WHO WILL BE THE DEMOCRAT’S NOMINEE AFTER THEIR CONVENTION?
