We already know that everything is racist but for some reason food is extra racist. It’s racist to suggest that black people like delicious foods like fried chicken and watermelon that they like. It’s racist that there are fast food restaurants in black neighborhoods even though there are fast food restaurants in every damn neighborhood. And now we learn that farmers markets are racist because…reasons and such.
Jason Rantz is a conservative radio host in Seattle which is kind of like being a…well a conservative in Seattle. He brings us the latest racial outrage concerning the white supremacy of sustenance:
Washington State University is amplifying claims that farmers markets and food charities are examples of “white supremacy” and “white dominant culture.”
The agriculture program coordinator for WSU’s San Juan County Extension Ag Program promoted a webinar event titled: “Examining Whiteness in Food Systems.” During the hour-long presentation, attendees learned that “white supremacy culture” creates food insecurity by “center[ing] whiteness across the food system.”
The materials claim that “whiteness defines foods as either good or bad” and that farmers markets are merely white spaces.
I honestly have no idea what “centering whiteness” means and I’ll be happy if I never have it explained to me.
Okay, so here’s how farmers markets are racist:
Jennifer Zuckerman of the Duke World Food Policy Center led the discussion. She framed the webinar around her identity as a white woman who has “benefited from whiteness for my entire life at the expense of other people.” With that in mind, she explored the “really specific ways in which whiteness shows up in the food system and particularly in the work of food insecurity.”
Promoting the belief that “whiteness permeates the food system” and that “it specifically articulates these white ideals of health and nutrition,” Zuckerman chided the “whitened dreams of farming and gardening.”
She took particular aim at farmers markets as being too white.
Wait till she checks out the racial make-up of the NHL or the crowd at an Iron Maiden concert. If being too white is racist, is being too black also racist? I’m guessing no.
As an added bonus, here is how food charities are also racist:
Zuckerman is particularly offended by white groups bringing mobile food banks to communities of color.
Efforts to offer food free of charge presumes “that low income and or BIPOC communities and individuals (and that’s not necessarily one in the same) cannot provide or make decisions for themselves.” She says it comes out of the “white supremacy culture” of individualism and neo-liberalism.
Well shit, I better stop donating to food banks because I certainly don’t want to be accused of racism. Here I thought a belief that the white race is superior was white supremacy when all along it was giving cans of Dirty Moore beef stew to hungry people. Live and learn.
This has been an important lesson for all of us. When you see people in need, especially non-whites, tell them to f*ck off and die of starvation unless you want to be a dirty racist bastard.
Obviously being a guilty white liberal is hilarious but I actually have compassion and feel sorry for them. Imagine going through life being this screwed up and miserable. Literally everything is a self-loathing catastrophe for these people. I honestly don’t know how you can be like this and not jump in front of a bus to end it all.
The only thing I can think of is that suicide is also white supremacy so they are trapped in this world of shame and self-hatred.
