I mention from time to time that most Republican politicians are no better than the Democrats. I don’t know if that upsets some staunch Republican voters. Granted, having Republicans in office, and in the majority seems to help slow the rot.
It’s like putting fresh cucumbers in the refrigerator. If left out, they rot in a few days. In the fridge, you get a few more days, but in the end, they still rot.

This interview of Ron Johnson by Hugh Hewitt illustrates my point. You can tell Hewitt is aggravated, with good cause. Johnson deflects, talks circles, hems and haws, makes excuses. He may be a good guy, but he sounds like a typical politician.

SENATOR RON JOHNSON, WISCONSIN.
Johnson attracted the attention of the Tea Party movement (2010) when he gave two emotional speeches at Tea Party rallies. According to The New York Times, Johnson said he “did kind of spring out of the Tea Party” and is glad to be associated with it, although he did not join the Senate Tea Party Caucus following his election.
Lindsay Graham also comes up in the interview. I’m so sick of Graham. Lindsay “I’m-gonna-get-to-the-bottom-of-this” Graham. He’s been making the same promises for years.

Lindsey Olin Graham (born July 9, 1955) is an American politician, who serves as the senior United States Senator from South Carolina, a seat he has held since 2003.
Below are a few highlights. I recommend you listen to or read the entire interview, linked to below. I’ve emphasized and edited some of the comments in the name of brevity.

HUGH HEWITT
Hugh Hewitt is an American radio talk show host with the Salem Radio Network and an attorney, academic, and author. A conservative, he writes about law, society, politics, and media bias in the United States. Hewitt is president and CEO of the Richard Nixon Foundation, a law professor at Chapman University School of Law.
Hugh gets to the point
HH: Now let me go to you, Senator. In October of last year, it’s been since October you were on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, and you said you don’t trust Brennan. You don’t trust Comey. You don’t trust Strzok. You don’t trust any of them. Why haven’t they been subpoenaed by your committee, yet? It’s been ten months.
How many times have we asked the same? When is something going to happen? Johnson’s first dodge:
RJ: Well, first of all, I need approval of my committee members. And it was tough enough getting…the other subpoena authority I’ve got. So and also, Lindsey Graham has been given the assignment by Leader McConnell to really investigate that portion of the corruption. And he’s the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. So I mean, we do have some kind of lines of jurisdiction in terms of what you’re trying to do.
Hugh was having none of it:
Look, everybody in this audience wants Jim Comey, and John Brennan and Andrew McCabe under oath. And it seems to me you’ve got a Republican one or a two vote majority on your committee, Senator?
That’s right. There is a Republican majority on the committee, yet they can’t get the votes to subpoena the perpetrators. Why?
RJ: Well, if I lose one, I lose the vote.
HH: Okay. So I’d like to know which Republican is blocking a Jim Comey subpoena from you, because we’re, the election is here. And whether it’s you or Lindsey, we’re out of time. You guys have blown the time. It’s like they ran the four corners offense against you and you’ve run out of time.
So neither Johnson and his committee, nor Graham’s committee can get the votes to subpoena because Republican committee members are voting with the Democrat minority, giving the Dems the advantage?
R.J. I finally subpoenaed the FBI to get the documents.
HH: But Senator, that does nothing for me. It does nothing for me. We have waited for three years for someone to put Comey under oath. That’s you or Lindsey. I’ll blame you both.
And is IS both of them. They should be team players, backing TRUMP, backing the American people.
We are owed answers about an attempted coup of the President, and we’re not getting them from the legislative oversight. And you are one of the two chairmen.
This is the kind of pressure that needs to put on Republicans constantly. Make them answer for their inaction, for their collusion with the Democrats. Make them answer for failing their constituents and their President.
HH: Who is the screw-up on your committee? Which Republican doesn’t want to get to the bottom of this?
RJ: We had a number, we had a number of my committee members who were highly concerned about how this looks politically.
HH: Who? Who?
RJ: Hugh, I’m not, you know, I’m just not going to be naming names that way.
See how they all cover for one another? They’ve totally lost sight of the fact that they work for us. That they owe us answers and justice. And perhaps WE’VE lost sight of the fact WE ARE THEIR EMPLOYERS, and that we never fire their asses.
HH: But you see, why shouldn’t everyone (know the names, know who’s blocking this)? You know me, Senator. I’m a big backer of you. I’ve helped you through two close elections. But I have had it with Republicans in the Senate calling up nobody that we want to hear from.
the President said it goes far beyond the FBI and into the intelligence community. And we’ve never seen any of these people under oath being asked question. And with documents, I don’t need documents. I could ask Jim Comey questions in my sleep.
You’re failing. Do you understand that the committee and Senator Graham’s committee on this issue are failing the American people? We don’t have the answers.
RJ: I share your frustration, which is why I subpoenaed Director Wray. Okay, yes. I understand time is running out. But Hugh, when you have, first of all, you have a criminal investigation, so we don’t get documents. Then you have a special counsel and you don’t get documents. Then you have an impeachment, and then you have COVID. It has definitely slowed us down in terms of our ability to get information.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Be a man about it.
HH: Then why do you go home on the weekends? Why is the Senate in session three days a week if you’re being slowed down? Why the hell don’t you stay there and demand documents seven days a week, 24 hours a day?
The other parts of the interview are just as good. By the time I was done reading the interview, I was infuriated.
I’m at the point where I feel that, if Trump wins, and we get 4 more years, both the Democrat AND the Republican parties need to crushed out of existence. Gut both houses of Congress. Drive out the TENS OF THOUSANDS of career politicians and bureaucrats. Clean out all of the treasonous members of the DOJ and the anti-American military upper echelon.

Yeah, I know, what a ridiculous idea. But a man can dream, can’t he?
