We were going to have my mom over for Thanksgiving. She lives in Los Angeles and I in Oregon. Today she called me, and although she’d never admit to it, I could hear the fear in her voice.
After telling me about the “unrest” (riots) that happened in her city after the Dodgers won the World Series, “My God! What’s wrong with these people?!?!” she exclaimed. I told her my thoughts on the subject without being too uncouth.
Then she asked, “Do you think there will be riots after the election?”
Good question. I answered in the affirmative.
“I think the Democraps/Communists will riot no matter who wins. They riot when they’re angry, they riot when they’re happy (see Dodgers above). To them it’s just an excuse to loot and burn things.”
She started asking me about guns, specifically what gun would be good for an 80-or-so- year-old woman with arthritic hands.
She was scared. She’s scared that after the election that riots will erupt near her home and being 80-something and living alone in a rich suburb is worried that this time the blacks and their vile supporters will finally get it “right” and go into the wealthy neighborhoods to burn, loot, and destroy.
This is not an unreasonable concern from someone who lived through the 1965 Watts Riots and the 1992 L.A. riots. In ’65 my dad was still alive and I was yet unborn. But being the NRA Golden Eagle he was, he had purchased two M-1 carbines for each of them, a ton of 30 round mags, ammo, and taught her how to shoot. Fortunately these purchases were unnecessary as the insurrection did not encroach into their neighborhood. It worked out well for me though when I got to shoot up all that ammo that was never used on roving bands of thugs.
Then in ’92 more lawlessness occurred that would make ’65 look like a picnic. Everything burned. My dad had left my mom several years before. I came home from college to visit my mom so by chance I happened to be there. I remember the sky glowing red, the smoke, ashes raining down onto our house, our cars. All because of some Shermed-out freak named Rodney King that got the beatdown he deserved for . . . let’s hear it? Breaking the law and disobeying police commands.
Of course I had my own weapons then. A 92 FS, an old “beaver tail” AR, and a Remington 870 shotgun. So I stayed with my mom and we waited it out. Nothing happened. The closest the destruction came was about two miles away.
But now she’s scared. She was going to come for Thanksgiving but Thanksgiving is coming early. I asked, “Why don’t you come up here for the elections?”
She didn’t want to impose.
“No, you’re coming up here.”
So she is.
But, with my curiosity peaked, I wondered what trust-worthy media outlets like CNN, NPR, etc. thought. Surprisingly they agreed! Violence might be coming! Great Odin’s beard! Had I become a liberal?!?!
No. The thing is they think the “civil unrest” is going to come from the right.
Bullshit.
Remember when Obama was elected and everyone was saying, “Oh, clutch my pearls! Those right-wing bastards are going to riot or assassinate him!””
Didn’t happen. He’s alive and “well.”
So yes, I believe riots are going to break out no matter who wins, but I also believe all of said rioting will be initiated by our dear “tolerant” liberals.
But my dear ol’ ma will be safe and sound up here. Where I live nothing’s going to happen. But if it does I have much more ammo, weapons, and experience now than I did in ’92.
What say you? Riots or no?
