Finally, some legislation that benefits the average citizen. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is working on a law that would, among other things, let people defend their property against rioters and looters. In addition to being allowed to shoot looters, this law would also make it perfect legal to run over rioters blocking the street. Let’s call it the Mostly Peaceful Resistance To Mostly Peaceful Protests Act of 2020. Too bad it’s not a national law.
The Miami Herald brings the least democrat piece of legislation ever proposed:
Gov. Ron DeSantis has drafted “anti-mob” legislation that would expand Florida’s Stand Your Ground law — a move that critics say will allow armed citizens to shoot suspected looters or anyone engaged in “criminal mischief” that disrupts a business.
The proposal would expand the list of “forcible felonies” under Florida’s self-defense law to justify the use of force against people who engage in criminal mischief that results in the “interruption or impairment” of a business, and looting, which the draft defines as a burglary within 500 feet of a “violent or disorderly assembly.”
It’s already pretty great but there’s more:
Other key elements of DeSantis’ proposal would enhance criminal penalties for people involved in “violent or disorderly assemblies,” make it a third-degree felony to block traffic during a protest, offer immunity to drivers who claim to have unintentionally killed or injured protesters who block traffic, and withhold state funds from local governments that cut law enforcement budgets.
Since this law would criminalize violent anti-social behavior and empower good people to defend themselves and their property, naturally leftist hate it. Check out anti-Stand Your Ground activist Denise Georges:
“It allows for vigilantes to justify their actions. It also allows for death to be the punishment for a property crime — and that is cruel and unusual punishment. We cannot live in a lawless society where taking a life is done so casually and recklessly,” said Georges.
The rioting and looting are the lawlessness here. Don’t wanna get shot? Don’t riot and loot. It couldn’t be more simple. This law doesn’t allow people to kill others for no reason but it does say that people have a right to defend themselves and their property from violent lawbreaking scum.
Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, a former federal prosecutor, former Democratic state legislator, and current critic of Stand Your Ground laws, says DeSantis’ law, “sounds like an invitation to incite violence.”
Seriously, what do these leftist assholes think a riot is? For their benefit, a riot is violence. Shooting a rioter doesn’t incite violence, it deescalates it instantly. Remember Kenosha?
Since Gelber is a special kind of liberal douchebag, he blames this law on president Trump:
“It’s clear that the Trump beauty pageant is still going on with governors and senators, who all want to be the next Trump. And the governor is clearly a very good contestant,” said Gelber.
Hey, at least he didn’t make any comparisons to Hitler.
If more people were shot while rioting and looting, less people would do it. Substantially less. If more people got mowed over for blocking streets during riots, less people would do it.
The opposite is also true: if there are no consequences for rioting and looting, more people will participate in this violent activity. If you need any proof, just look at the riots that have been raging in liberal cities since June. The liberals running those places have allowed the riots to go on unchecked and they haven’t stopped.
DeSantis’ bill should actually be called the Anti-Antifa All Lives Matter Act. Hopefully it passes and other states adopt similar laws.
